Errors Can Be Costly

Similar to the Red Sox game 2 nights ago, my "beer league" gym class softball team lost the game today because of some iffy defense and errors.

We were up by 3 runs (3-0) in the last half of the last inning when before I knew it, the bases were loaded. There was one out and to the plate stepped Bryan "Chatty" Pelchat. Not a power hitter, it was expected that he would hit a ground ball which could either be turned into a double play to end the game or into an out to make it 2 outs in the inning. The ball was hit to second base, it made it through the second baseman's legs, and hopped past the right fielder. 3 runs scored and the game was now tied.

Even thinking about what happened next makes me sick so I am not going to talk about it. All you need to know is we lost the game 4-3, and now we have a record of 0-2.

Overtime, Overtime, Overtime, Overtime!

For the third time in the series (which has only seen 5 games), the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls are going to overtime. The Celtics have not faired well in overtime, winning neither of the previous overtime games played. With Ray Allen fouled out, the Celtics are missing 2 of the "Big 3" as he and Kevin Garnett (who is injured) are both on the sideline. Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce are going to have to work some magic to get out of this one alive.

MINUTE-BY-MINUTE OVERTIME UPDATE

4 minutes left- Celtics up by 1 (Kendrick Perkins is BIG)
3 minutes left- Celtics up by 1 (Joakim Noah has the ugliest freethrows in the league.)
2 minutes left- Celtics up by 1 (Regardless of the outcome, Rajon Rondo has offically established himself as one of the top 5 point guards in the league. He's getting assists, scoring, getting rebounds, everything a player can do. I would give him top 3 but I am also bias, so top 5 works. Ben Gordan needs to put a tent on that circus.)
1 minute left- Was too busy watching the game to update.
36 seconds left- Celtics up 3 (Paul Pierce is clutch. He in an isolation wizard that can hit any shot at any time. Dirt.)
27 seconds left- Tie game. (Ben Gordon stepped out of bounds before the shot, they gave him 3 foul shots anyway. I'm not gonna call it BS, but it is. Now it's all tied up.)
3.4 seconds left- Celtics up 2. (Paul Pierce. That's all I'm going to say)

CELTICS WIN!
Celtics lead the series 3-2.

Nice job guys, that's a big one.
