Prom, 8.5 out of 10

This year’s prom was definitely the most expensive one out of the last few. It consisted of an “open bar”, full buffet, customized M&M’s, and lots of dancing.

The night started out with the traditional prom pictures taken by Grynn and Barrett Studios. The photo key chains were sub par, as the photo was not correctly centered in the frame, cutting off part of the guest’s head if they were taller than six feet.

Next came the initial awkward socialization period where people talk about how much they “like your dress” or “how handsome you look in that tux”. Pictures were taken using personal cameras. You know, the ones where you are not expecting it and you end up looking perfect for the casting of The Hills Have Eyes 8.

Then it was time to sit down and dine. Keep in mind, at this point there were already at least five Shirley Temples consumed by each person, so the last thing anyone wanted to do was sit and eat. Brian Amini ’10 and Michael Kazalis ’10 decided they were going to dance and eat at the same time. They ended up looking the same as the always do, foolish and funny.

The food was great as you got to choose what you were going to eat after you could see it. Usually you pick something that sounds good and then when it is brought to you, it ends up looking and tasting like something else. Kudos on the buffet class of ‘10, it was fantastic.

After that the night was “danced away” as the ten foot by 15 foot was swarmed by people looking like a tightly packed can of sardines, hopping up and down to the beat of the techno jam, Sandstorm. In the middle of the dancing, everyone took a ten-minute break so the class of ’10 could make their entrance. The “literate” DJ pronounced 50% of first names right and about 15% of last names right with Take Me Out to the Ball Game in the background.

Kevin Serio ‘10 and Lucy West ’10 won the honors of Prom King and Queen. They had their dance together, which all other couples from the Class of ’10decided to join in on. The people proceeded to dance and drink Shirley Temples until the night was gone.

Overall the prom gets an 8.5 out of 10. One point was taken off for the dance floor that was way to big. Another was taken off for the awesome DJ. Finally, a bonus half of a point was given for the buffet, which in my mind made the night. Great job Class of ’10 with special thanks to their advisors Ms. Bernier and Mr. Burns.
